Claims Assistant

What is your role?

As a claims assistant, I assist Penny in making sure that claims are handled in an effect and prompt manner and that payment for valid claims is made to policyholders as quickly as possible.

Your day to day?

Taking details when a customer reports a claim, issuing claim forms and giving advice on the claim process, making sure any premiums have been paid and that policies cover the claim sufficiently. I also gather information like receipts, photographs, valuations or anything else that will assist us within the claims process.

Favourite part of the job?

For many clients making a claim can often be a stressful time for them. So I really enjoy being able to help them get their issues resolved quickly and surprising them with what we can actually do. The most rewarding part when it happens is hearing from them once the claim has been resolved and then knowing that you have truly helped them recover their losses.

Experience?

For most of my background I have been involved in healthcare and worked for the NHS for a number of years. So you could say I have a background in caring for people and looking after them, following something unexpected happening to people. I like to think that the skills I picked up in previous roles lend themselves nicely to the role I now have at Movo. I certainly believe empathy and a determined focused attitude helps when speaking to our clients.

How did you get involved in insurance?

I moved from Cardiff to Kent in 2016 and after bringing up my children, I was keen to get back into work, but wanted a new challenge after working within the healthcare sector. I heard about a training position available at Movo and as my partner works in the industry, I have always been keen to get involved in insurance. I went for the interview and have now been working at Movo since early 2017.

Three fun things about you?

I am quite a foodie and enjoy eating good food and drinking nice wine in equal measure. I am trying my best to not officially become a soccer Mum, but my two boys are massively into football, so myself or my husband will be with them EVERY weekend at a match watching them play.
